Covenant Keeping Diet
Most of us that have been grafted into the Tree leave behind or are trying to leave behind those foods that are not "Torah observant or Kosher" as required by Levitical Law.
Unlike those in the past who grew, raised, or caught their food, we have even less control over what we truly eat. When you think about it, that doesn't seem to make much sense considering the level of convenience we have been given in our societies today.
With the rise of the convenient supermarket & global trade, we can eat almost anything, anytime, anywhere! The problem with this is; in order for us to have this convenience our food requires more and more ingredients to increase its shelf life.
If I asked you to list 4 ingredients that you can find in a loaf of bread, most of us would list the basic ingredients we were raised to know. Flour, yeast, salt, oil, and water: well guess what, that oil could be lard which is rendered fat from a pig, one of the animals considered unclean! As if that is not disappointing enough a lot of commercial bakeries use a dough conditioner to make your bread soft & fluffy. That ingredient is called L-Cysteine, and it is made from human hair & poultry feathers! There are so many ingredients listed on a loaf of bread and most of them we can't even identify!
Although this may seem off putting to many, we have to remember that our bodies are not our own. They are the temples that the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit, Living God) reside in! They are to be Holy as we are taught in Ezekiel 36:27 as well as 1 Corinthians 3:16!
Now do not be dismayed, it is not as hard as it sounds to guard your body as well as your heart. I've listed the animals that are clearly identified by God as unclean, and the food items you most likely will find derive from them. I have also listed healthy clean substitutes for them so that you do not have to throw out that favorite recipe handed down from your great, great grandmother.
Now I do have to warn you, like everything else worthwhile, this may take a little getting used to, but here's the thing once you start you will never want to go back!! In fact people have been known to eat healthier & even become healthier! You think God knows something we don't?!
My first suggestion is to keep it simple: always check the ingredient label! Most of the ingredients that go against our covenant with God are listed among a plethora of items. Keep it simple, the less ingredients the better.
